Much as I loved what the Russians have done in the tourney, it was a totally just result so come on Spain!*

...this has nowt to do with how many World Wars we've fought against our central European chums, it's about who I'd rather watch and to be honest , penalty taking aside no doubt..., Germany are like us... hardworking, reliant on set pieces... I'd just rather see the latin flair rewarded. Particularly Torres. I may not be a Liverpool fan but I have a lot of respect for him. Top player, who stayed with the club he supported despite the overtures from the BIG CLUB next door and eventually moved to a pretty much 4TH RATE BIG LEAGUE SIDE because he wanted to work with the manager. Respect.

Well, I'm sure I'd feel much worse if I weren't under such heavy sedation.

As long as there's sex and drugs, I can do without the Rock 'n' Roll....

Aye, a just result ultimately. Spain have been fab all tournament except against the Italians so deserved to come through in the end...

It's been a cracking tournament so it has. Put the last World Cup to shame...

Nice to see Ballack keep up his impressive record of losing major finals. What a cynical b*stard he was on the pitch last night. If he was injured he had the same effect on his team as per Ronaldo France '98.

For the first 15 minutes I thought Spain were going to get thumped but then they got it together and the Germans never got a look in. I was pleased for the Spanish despite their manager being a knob.

What amused me most about the final last night was how 90% of the locals here were supporting Spain and not as I expected their teutonic neighbours.
The stadium was just as corporate last night, but at least there were a lot more tickets made available for the real supporters - when I say a lot, I'd guess each team had around 8,000 supporters out of the 51,000 crowd which is hardly a bumper allocation, but more than the 5,000 in the semi.
Again the atmosphere was fairly low key, not that much singing after the first 10 mins.
Not yet been out in the town today so no idea if it was party central or not last night. Its been really odd over here, no buzz about the tournament at all. Apart from seeing quite a few people in footie shirts and carrying flags, you would never have guessed that the final was in the town yesterday.
All told tho, its been a good tournament, well organised, great footie and a just outcome with probably the most consistantly good team in the whole thing winning it.

It was a great tourney, all the better in a football sense for not having 22 lumps from England spoiling the party.

So were you actually in the stadiums for the semis and final, Bananas, or just hanging around soaking up the atmos nearby.
