I should mention the Hellset Orchestra here because when my friend saw them she said something along these lines. She bought their cd and said that she was worried that their magic live performance would not come across on record. She did not find the cd wanting but said that they were the sort of band that you'd have to see live to truly appreciate them. I think the same can be said of Art Brut (already mentioned) Their front men are so strong and the rest of the band so passionate about what they do that you feel like you're missing out just by listening to them. I still feel the same way about Pulp but Jarvis has tired of coming to my house every night to sing for me...
