I lost count of the number of versions when it comes to the new LP. I will give the £35 deluxe version a miss. I can do without an extra badge

Good choice of song though..........

Heh. Bands who are maddeningly self-referential about "what it means to be a music fan" should be discouraged at every turn. Their back catalogue is surprisingly different to navigate. I picked up Tiger Bay a while back and couldn't work out which version to bloody get... (thankfully I didn't end up with the US one).

Can't remember if we've had this before (Milchman posted loads of France Gall and ye-ye some time ago) but after last night's Eurovision monstrosity, here's a reminder of what proper Eurovision hits sounded like when they were composed by people like Gainsbourg and sung by France Gall:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kp93flpM ... re=related

And on the subject of Eurovision, wasn't Rona Nishliu of Albania monstrously bad? And she's apparently the "Albanian Aretha Franklin" though I don't recall Aretha having such a bad hair/ face/ song day...

Hmmm. Just had a quick skim through the Youtube clips. Do Russia only have to fart into a bottle to get high marks? Grannies or no grannies, that entry was shocking.

I happily know bugger all of the songs besides a brief snippet of The Hump which appeared on the news and sounded dull as dishwater. If you're going to get a well known act who's popular in many parts of Europe to sing then at least give him something decent.

I watched the events unfold on twitter but went to bed before the votes came in. Who'd have thought that Graham Linehan and the singer from The Chapman Family would be such avid Eurovision atchers?

The Russian entry was pure Father Ted.

I've heard about them and see pictures but I'm yet to hear the song, in fact I probably never will, and maybe that's the way it should be!

A New World In The Morning- Roger Whittaker

After hearing the Go-Kart Mozart version on Lawrence Of Belgravia I've had this stuck in my head.

Belle & Sebastian covered that France Gall song didn't they.

As for that Albanian woman, the whle thing seems to be based around the bit in the middle where she screams for ages.
