Yeah I thought that was a surprising Capello-centric omission... quite why Roy has gone in for it as well is most perplexing.
Downing's an odd one too although whilst he was at Villa he was one of England's best players (with Young on the other flank). Fingers crossed about that one eh...
Henderson shouldn't be anywhere near the squad mind. |

Yes and no. He was sacked early doors and just been appointed Crawley boss after a spell coaching at Forest and postponing their own relegation for another year. I don't think we can win Euro 2012 either.

Looking forward more to the Tour De France, the Olympic track cycling and my annual visit to the English National Sheepdog Trials than Euro 2012.
Might get excited when it actually starts, but for the moment am enjoying the Isle Of Mann TT races coverage on ITV4.

Never understood the appeal of watching junkies on bikes. Sheepdog trials rule, though!
I shall be watching every Euro2012 match, to the irritation of the rest of my family.

In the days when there was virtually no live footy to be seen on telly I used to GORGE myself senseless on all those exotically named players (Didier Six!) while replicating the matches on the floor with my Panini stickers. Now I can barely be arsed, particularly with the Euros which don't have the benefits of quirky Africans or cynical but skilful Latin Americans like the World Cup. |

The appeal of cycling lies in it's extremity. It is physically gruelling, requires genuine bravery, endurance and athleticism and is one of the most tactically complex of all team sports.
It has of course been besmirched by the drug scandals of the 80s &90s, but has done more to clean up than sports like baseball, which for years swept steroid abuse under the carpet.
I'm sure there is still drug taking amongst the peleton, but the drug testing regime is more thorough now than in any other sport. The number of riders caught in recent years is more indicative of stringent testing than increased use. Were drug testing taken as seriously in football, I'd bet they'd be a thousand fold increase in failed tests, although most would probably be for cocaine.
For an insight into just how bad things had got in cycling, I'd recommend David Millar's excellent autobiography 'Racing Through The Dark'

They certainly do. Last years finals play-off when Chloe Cropper and her dog Roy looked to have wiped the floor with both Alf Kyme & Sally and Timothy Longton & Bob, only for Roy to grip a bolting sheep in the single, thus relegating her to third place was my sporting highlight of the year.
Still replay that moment in my head, rooting for Chloe & Roy all the way!

I watched the first game in a pub with no sound and over somebody's shoulder. I've read no 'expert analysis' or in fact anything since but on my limited viewing Greece were a tad unlucky to go down to 10 men. Were either of the fouls, particularly the first, really bookable offences?
After 25 mins I said the Greeks were shocking and were going to get a battering. Ho hum, you live and learn, maybe Norwich will be top 6 next year...  |

Apart from the bit about Norwich that's pretty much what the pundits said. Oh except Mark Bright who said that Russia and the Czech Republic will be watching the game with their feet up in their hotel

Very good Left Arm fast bowler too apparently. Not quite as good a cricketer as Phil Neville was, but handy none the less.
