My favourite South London venue and possibly my favourite anywhere, period. It's about 15 minutes walk from Brixton tube/BR, down a quiet residential street. It's an incredibly friendly place and the lack of staff turnover, either behind the bar, working on sound (Paul?) or running the entertainment (Tim), says a lot about the way the place is run by the landlord and landlady. It has bands on every night of the week and cos Tim works hard at plugging the venue, it's not all down to the promoters to get people in there. It rarely costs more than a fiver entry and advanced sales are always done via the excellent wegottickets organisation. The beer is all at pub prices and it even does a real ale (Pedigree).

If you're thinking about putting bands on here you need to contact Tim via the website above. It costs nothing - they just take a cut of the door takings and they also provide the sound engineer and someone to collect money off people as they turn up. What is there not to like?

I like The Windmill. As BJ said above - it's run really well and is always so welcoming. A great little place - just like what venues should be. I am not overly keen on the layout - what with pillars and all that - but that's a minor grumble - as I rarely have a bad night when I get to the venue (earlier closing on the Victoria Line has been a killer for me - but thankfully that's all done with at the moment)

I must like it as the last Lostmusic show of the year is scheduled for Decemeber 1st:

Yeah, it's all that time i spent in mean streets of Lordship Lane with the posh ex innit.
Organic Asparagus weidling youths from Alleynes with a passion for "street" art.

I've got a taste for such things now.

We still have an outhouse at my house. It's just that only Les normally uses it.

Looking forward to vivian girls. Come early though. We drink!

you're going to clash with the Man City match and since the television is next to the Pedigree pump, what's the betting where BJ will be?

That was the wrong night, Twisted. Anyway I'm now back on for tonight so without the distraction of Arran's skin pounding, I'll be watching the footy with the collection of old Jock fellas in the corner. Should be blubbing like a baby by the time Women come on.

Dear Bola,
The bands on that day will be great, the clientele even better.
