Sounds like the name of some hot new band, doesn't it? They're probably shit.

We are playing our first gig on foreign soil next Saturday (in Paris), and we're getting anxious about voltage issues.

Apparently you don't need a transformer to use UK electrical equipment in France, just a plug converter. However, the voltage is different over there, and I'm really worried that it's going to do weird things to our keyboards and stuff.

Can anyone who has played on English equipment in France soothe my fearful mind?

But seriously folks, you've no worries. Mains voltage on the continent is generally 220v ac. A few years ago, the mains voltage standard in the UK was dropped to an average of 230v (not 240v as it used to be) and euro voltage was raised to 230v - basically to assist in the transfer of excess powerstation capacity each way across the channel.

In a nutshell most modern electrical equipment uses switch mode power supplies anyway, which are capable of running as low as 160v without any issues. Either way, your kit will be fine.

Save yourself a fortune on travel adaptors by taking 4 way uk adaptors with you and just invest in a couple of euro/uk plug adaptors.
