i actually love what used to be defined as Artrock. up until say 2003.

now the term makes me shiver.

I love The Sailplanes, but I think they're selling themselves short by using the term "art rock". They're better than all that trendy rubbish. Their influences seem to be more Sonic Youth/Sleater Kinney/MBV/Weddoes than Wire/XTC/Gang of Four/Joy Division/boring cliches.
