A few more differences:

Ice in drinks. Ask for a scotch on the rocks in the US and even the thickest bartender will fill the glass about 3/4 full of ice and then pour a liberal splash of whisky over the top, thereby creating a satisfying, cold drink. Try it in Britain and the barman puts in an insultingly small amount of scotch (often using a pipette) and then drops one or (if you're lucky) two cubes of ice into it as if he was dispensing diamonds he'd paid for with his own money. And you end up with a slightly cooled, watered-down whisky.

Cheese. American cheese is possibly the most synthetic substance on planet Earth. Seemingly a by-product of the space race, it could be used for blocking out harmful radiation, but I wouldn't try eating it if I were you. British cheese comes from the Republic of Ireland. Well, that's how it seems in Sainsbury's.

our geezers are cheeky chaps but theirs are old gits.

we eat curry, they eat burritos and when they come here they can't get enough kebaaaaarb like it's some sort of quaint local delicacy.

they still believe in the power of rock n roll and listen to warrant, ratt and poison when they think no-one is about.

they have more bespoke words such as nacha taint and chode whereas we are still stuck saying "the bit between your ballsack and your arse"

that's about it though as far as i can tell.

I'm just back from the Big Oversized and Tasteless Pip Fruit, so have witnessed the differences first hand. Our planes are staffed by faux glamour pusses and orange waxy faced camp fellas - theirs by Elaine Strich-alikeys. Their cafes serve up decent coffee. Their bars bizarrely sell pasteurised Speckled Hen, Newcastle Brown and Bass on tap, alongside their familiar equally awful lagers...

Will that be on the rocks, sir?
