My intitial reaction to this whole thing was to laugh at Leanah's attempt at self-promotion because I thought she didn't know what she was doing.

Maybe she does know what she's doing: she's currently being discussed in 2 threads on these forums with a total of 52 replies and 636 views. That's surely unprecedented for some random new person popping up on a forum and saying "listen to my music". If she carries on like this, she will earn her place alongside the likes of Josef Goebbels and Malcolm McLaren.

how an artists looks has got a lot to do with their music. or at least how people percieve it anyway. people buy records and get into bands for a lot of reasons. image (which is obviously often tied up with physical attractiveness) is a big part of this. depending on the market of course, but i believe it applies to varying extents in most forms of popular music. it's pretty naive to think it doesn't.

i used to try and deny this and was one of the fervent "it shouldn't have anything to do with it" crowd.

the day that i accepted that it inevitably does have a lot to do with it, realised that of course i cared about the image of bands i liked and realised that i needed to pay attention to people's perception of us was the day it stopped being an annoyance and became a fun thing to play about with.

i wouldn't knock anyone for making out like they're a hottie on internet promotion, so i've stayed out of this thread so far.

I've no problem with Leanah calling herself a beauty but she really ought to have written it in the third person and, jaysis, how difficult is it to run something through a spellchecker??

Just out of interest, how would a bloke have fared on here if he'd posted a link to a site billing himself as 'hot'?
