Fair enough, if you don’t like them, you don’t like them, but it shouldn’t be about looks. Not every band can have “Marshall Stars Hair” you know… & what if their bass player looked like Buzz Lightyear, or if their singer showed you his boxers?
Would you slag them off as well???
On The Marshal Stars, by the way we agree… They are fantastic! Their talent and their haircuts will take them far.
On the night, who entertained me more? – Without doubt – The Rulers of the Planet.
Aside from haircuts the Marshall Stars have great songs, voices, musical ability and a fair deal of stage presence. Rulers have all those things too (although Ed/Buzz seems to be the only one who doesn’t cut his own hair), but where they part from The Marshal Stars is stage presence.
Whether you like him or not, Barry (the singer) has it in bucket loads, Buzz Lightyear’s certainly got it, Mick the guitarist’s got it.
– He’s like “Mick-a Wallis” in “the Commitments” – “he’s a savage, but he’s our savage” (although in this case replace the words “savage” with “spacer”).
Even the Mullet on drums has character...Seeing as were talking about look-alikes - He a looks a bit like Shane Byrne, the Ireland Hooker (that’s rugby love

The point is there not three matching haircuts with instruments & microphones. They are band in the old sense of the word – a group of individuals doing something together. Whether they rule the planet or not, this is a very good & unique band. They are far from “uninventive”. They are a fusion of obvious influences, yet they are still without doubt unique.
And why shouldn’t he say they got 9 out of 10 from Hot Press?
