Single Review

Vivian Girls
Tell The World Woodsist Records 7”

Article written by Ged M - Aug 31, 2008

Here’s three girls from Brooklyn making a mighty lo-fi rock’n’roll racket. It makes a virtue of simplicity; like all the best bands, they build their nest from just guitar, drums, bass and voices and entice you in; once there, you’ll never leave. The wonderful ‘Tell The World’ is crackly stripped-back artrock mixing up the Modern Lovers with a touch of early Throwing Muses while there’s a hint of C86/ Shop Assistants fuzziness on the indiepoppy b-sides (and more on the previous ‘Wild Eyes’ single). There’s plenty of blog-goss on this band right now; look out for their sold out album being reissued on the down'n'dirty In The Red label this autumn.
