The Articles Monochrome Vigilante
Stillmania Record 7” only

Article written by Paul M
Apr 2, 2006.

The Articles may be a tad too knowingly bonkers for some tastes with their wacky names (Wang Jimmy, Jon Rubbish Parish, etc) and less than po-faced subject matters (street drinking, etc) but what they clearly have is a refreshing scatter gun approach to musical styles. So whilst their myspace page offers up one diverse set of genres (sleazy funk, Yiddish skiffle…), this gem of a single proffers 60s garage riffs mixed with gorgeous shimmering keys (Monochrome Vigilante) and quirky shuffling ska (Smacked and Abandoned). Although they may not be the finished article, the Articles are far from finished and while they call their music ‘psychedisco punk’, I call it bloody good fun. Well worth checking out, but be quick as there are only 500 of these babies.
