The Subways Oh Yeah

Outstanding thrashy, beaty punk-pop, played with one eye on their biological clocks - “those teenage years they speed too fast” - so it comes in at two seconds under the perfect three minutes. Their great grungy chords and electrifying melodies suggest a nurturing on Nirvana singles. ‘Where You Go’ is denser and darker, the riff-scattering guitars reminiscent of what the Vines ought to have been. The only letdown is the B-side of the white vinyl 7”, ‘I Am Young’, which is, by contrast, a bland melancholy ballad.
