With a penchant for badly tuned guitars, they have often been compared to the Velvet Underground, Hefner, The Pastels and Beat Happening amongst others. “Hefner are maybe the most obvious connection, but there are hints of The Pastels, The Orchids, The Visitors, Ballboy, Hidden Cameras… I really do love Esiotrot with a large chunk of my heart.” (Tangents) www.myspace.com/esiotrotschmesiotrot THE WAVE PICTURES For a few years the wave pictures have played sporadically in the UK, France and New York. During this time highlights have included playing at the Mofo festival in Paris at the invitation of friends Herman Dune, and playing shows with Herman Dune and The Jeffrey Lewis Band, as well as singing The Wave Pictures song "Dust Off Your Heart" with Herman Dune on a radio session for the great John Peel. The Wave Pictures have also served as backing band and co-songwriters for John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats, the results featuring on a seven-inch single released by 4AD records. “Only occasionally does music intoxicate like this: once every decade (he says, at random) – counting backwards, early Pavement, Galaxie 500, The Pastels… I’m sure you can make up your own reference points” (Everett True, Plan B) www.thewavepictures.com http://www.myspace.com/thewavepictures THE BOBBY MCGEES Jimmy & El' are on the run from El's evil father. He had kept her locked, alone in her bedroom for years. Jimmy used to throw stones at the window to catch her attention, but it was not until he met his Guru & Mentor "Duke Marmapants" that he was trained in the ways of the Ukulele and used his new found powers to rescue her. Now they roam the Galaxy together with their trusty techbots, G RO55 and Tallulah (Gosh!), saving people wherever they go from the evils of Shite Music....always just one step ahead of El's Evil Father..... May the Uke be with you....wherever you go! DISCLAIMER: This story is TRUE & has nothing to do with the work of Joseph Campbell or their interpritation by George Lucas...it's True! "Dostoyevski doing Lonnie Donnigan" (Everett True, Plan B) http://www.myspace.com/thebobbymcgees LITTLE THINGS Little Things are a band of four. One is a girl, and three are boys. Three Songs for Everyone is their first e.p. Their second e.p was called Swallows and Little Things. It wasn't very good so they shelved it. They are a resident band at the 12 bar club on London's Denmark Street. Although right now they don't play so much because they're finishing their degrees. Except Ed, who's just started one. Numbers are important to them. Influences include Belle and Sebastian, Ballboy, Velvet Underground, Delgados, Flaming Lips and Moldy Peaches. http://littlethingsmusic.co.uk http://www.myspace.com/littlethingsloveyou www.fortunapop.com www.myspace.com/fortunapoprecords |
