Post subject: | Office Ettiquette |
Hello. I am looking for advice on this piece of 'office ettiquette'. We all work in offices after all... Person A and Person B sit next to each other on their own little 'island' of desks. Whenever Person A gets up to make a cup of tea, they ask Person B whether or not they'd like one. Person B always says 'Yes'. Person A will invariably do this approximately 4 times a day... twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. This works out that Person A makes Person B around 20 cups of tea a week. Person B on the other hand very rarely makes Person A a cup. Things which are never said during the working week include, "I'm making tea, d'you want one?" or "You made the last lot... I'll make these." Person A estimates that Person B has made them less than 10 cups of tea THIS YEAR. Person A has now become weary of this statistic and questioned Person B about it, saying that they felt Person B was being a tad rude and not very fair... Person B reacted badly and now has a massive hump with Person A making working relations a piece on the difficult side. Question: Whose side would you fall on in this situation Person A or Person B. Is it Person A or Person B who is "in the wrong" or being "unreasonable here"? (This may or may not be autobiographical) |

Is this like 'You are the ref' but renamed 'You are the office gopher'? Blow the mother away with a staplegun I say. |

It depends if Person B contributes anything elkse to the party. If not then Person A shouldn't offer again. Personally I would bang both their heads together or send them on a day trip to Beirut. That may get things into perspective for the pair of them. |

Person B does nothing for Person A during the course of a working day... except lend Person A staples. Person B claimed when questioned to be 'too busy' despite making repeated references that Person A's job is overworked and underpaid... hmm! Your suggestion makes perfect sense though... the solution to a small domestic tiff should always be to parachute them into warfare! We're all a bunch of petty fuckwits really aren't we... *sigh* |

Person A should put arsenic into Person B's next cup of tea. |

Stop drinking tea, or bring in a flask, or hide half empty bottles of vodka about their desk so they look like a drunkard |

Its only a fucking cup of tea, get over it. If you were living in the middle east you wouldn't get bothered about tea. |
