1 in 4 may vote for BNP to get at Blair in the coming local elections apparently. I appreciate that it's as just as much a statement of disillusionment with the main alternatives (Tory and Lib Dem) too and something similar happened in the mid-90s with Euro elections when the Greens suddenly got loads of votes but jeez... This is the unacceptable face of democracy... |

In the quest to get franchised by Englands' Daily Mail reading home counties middle classes is anyone surprised that following the abandonment of the white working class vote by New Labour that the BNP are going to gain support by such disillusioned voters. Not me, I have been saying it for a couple of years now but I believe that this is a protest vote rather than actually believing in any of the BNP's nonsense policies. There was a good article in yesterday's Observer about previous instances of this type of voting pattern so let's hope it follows previous examples and the vote for the far right crumbles instantly. Remember Derek Beacon anyone? |

Well, since David Cameroon is going all "lefty", who have the "traditional" Tory right-wingers got to vote for? I think it's inevitable that the BNP are going to pick up votes as a result. Incidentally, isn't it lovely to see that green-fingered David Cameroon has chosen a large gas-guzzling car over an environmentally friendly alternative? And Patricia Hewitt says that the NHS is having its best year ever...which is patently wrong. Good to see lying in Politics is alive and well! |

Hmmm. A couple of things. First, people are blaming Labour for alienating right-wingers, but the Government's rhetoric (and, indeed, actions) concerning immigration have been, frankly, disgustingly right-wing. Kicking refugees is seen as an easy ways to pick up a few popularist votes. Still, at least that fucker Blunkett managed to stick his dick up the ass of his own career. Secondly, I hope it is just a protest vote (if it happens). But I bet we wouldn't be quite so complacent if we were black or Asian... Try and imagine, just for a moment, how you might feel if you read that a quater of the electorate were thinking of voting for a party with a viciously punative attitude towards middle-aged, liberal white people. "Oh well, it's just a protest vote"? I don't think so. |

They claim their planet's dying: that soon it's going to blow And so they're coming here - they say they've nowhere else to go.... With their strange computer voices and their one eye on a pole They're moving in next door and then they're signing on the dole..... Asylum seeking Daleks are landing here at noon! Why can't we simply send them back or stick them on the moon? It says here in the Daily Mail they're coming here to stay - The Loony Lefties let them in! The middle class will pay...... They say that they're not terrorists: that doesn't wash with me! The last time I saw one I hid Weeks behind the settee... Good Lord - they're pink. With purple bumps! There's photos of them here! Not just extra-terrestial.... The bloody things are queer! Yes! Homosexual Daleks And they're sponging off the State! With huge Arts Council grants to teach delinquents how to skate! It's all here in the paper - I'd better tell the wife! For soon they will EXTERMINATE Our British way of life..... This satire on crass ignorance and tabloid-fostered fear Is at an end. Now let me give One message, loud and clear. Golf course, shop floor or BNP: Smash bigotry and hate! Asylum seekers - welcome here. You racists: emigrate! ATTILA THE STOCKBROKER |

No one has stated that the government is alientating right wingers especially as their immigration policies appeal to those Daily Mail/Torygraph/Express readers they have picked up to gain seats in traditional tory heartlands. What I said was that Labour has alienated some of it's traditional white working class voters in some parts of the country who thus will be voting BNP at the local elections, many in protest at this alienation in hope that the labour party will again listen to their concerns rather for the actual policies of the BNP. However many will have racial motives, blaming the non-white community for their plights rather than successive government failures over the years (labour & tory), and falling right into the BNP's hands. |

Due to the rubbish constituency in which I live, if I vote for anyone other than the Liberals or the Tories, I've just wasted my vote. I'm not impressed with the Libs at all at the moment, and think they're regressing, but I'm forced to vote for them in a vain effort to try and keep the Tories out. |
