I left off Pearce coz I thought he'd kind of ruled himself out. As for "why not Allardyce" have you actually watched a Bolton game recently? I'd be ashamed to see an England team play like that. And, although it's effective against average teams, it just wouldn't cut it against the top dogs. |

I’ve voted for Jose from that list (surely the England job is the holy grail for “the Special One”), but there’s some names missing: namely Gus Hiddinck (sp?) and Martin O’Neil Hiddink is favourite, and probably rightly so. It appears that the only thing working against him is that he’s a bachelor and therefore seemingly wide open to lurid tabloid tales; unless of course, he’s a closet gayer with a rentboy fetish in which case: lurid tales x10. Could be fun, either way. As for O’Neil he was a shoo-in for the United job some years back (FACT) and probably still is, but is probably getting a bit restless. But being Irish probably counts against him. Still, he knows what he’s doing, which rates him above most in that list. As for the rest: Allardyce is clearly Mike Basset – England Manager with a Bluetooth headset, and Pearce is all enthusiasm and nothing else, which I’m sure we’ve done before (See: Keegan, Kevin, cheer up). |

Benitez. What you need is someone who can shape a group of players to do the right things to win one particular competition. Did that with Liverpool last season - using tactics not dissimilar to Cloughie's assaults on Europe. |

Ian Holloway is there just for the prospect of the post-match press conferences. Maybe the FA could create a "media liaison" post and let him have that? |
