Yes, folks - it's that time of the year again! 'A time for giving, a time for getting, A time for forgiving and for forgetting. Christmas is love, christmas is peace, A time for hating and fighting to cease' as Slipknot sang, all those Christmasses ago... and, we're afraid, it's a time for saying 'that's it' as far as The Penelope Tree' goes... maybe it's fitting that the last one will be a Chrismassy one. This way at least we can have a celebratory evening, with a maudlin feel, rather than the inverse...no, wait...er... Anyway, even though having a 'name' guest DJ every month has never really been our 'thing' we HAVE had some splendid guests doing the dos on the ones and twos, since arriving at BARTOK. And playing records... notably- Tony Two-Tone Bobby Grindrod (The Fog Band) Alex Bass (The Projects) Andy (Beat Hotel) and Sarah (Actionette) Louise Katttenhorn (John Peel's producer at R1) Piney Gir, with Steve (Broken Family Band) Tom IndieMP3 Gavin (Camera Obscura) So, for this last wild waltz, we are looking forward hugely to all 3 members of the hugely original folk/baroquerockers 'Monogram' coming to entertain us!! Plus, of course, Chimes' 'All around the houses MEGA CHRISTMAS QUIZ' and, Hatty and Chimes playing the usual - in other words, stuff you might not hear everywhere else!! Going to the Punk All-dayer at the Astoria on Sunday, so if I'm still capable of walking I'll try to be there later on (will try to convince the Kid to take Monday off so he can come as well). |
