Why do people find it so difficult to travel about London these days. It wasn't that long ago that virtually every London borough had at least one, often more, thriving venues. Nowadays, if a gig isn't in Hoxton, Camden or Islington, hardly any one will make the effort to go. The La Sera gig at the Windmill on Tuesday is a case in point, 50 or so people for a gig 15 minutes walk from the nearest tube! And while I'm moaning, what is it with young people who'll only go to a gig if all their mates are going? Never much cared for The Luminaire; good sound, good size and shape, but something dead about the atmosphere, maybe something to do with all those signs saying stuff like "Don't talk while the musicians are playing. this is a music venue not a bar", but still sad to see another venue from one of London's boroughs go the same way as The Moonlight, Venue, Clarendon, 101 Club, Bridge House, etc etc etc... |

I was thinking this today. Why don't they have weekend gigs in the afternoon or tea-time. Much more sensible. (Saying that, I always recommend people watch my own band drunk - it's a papering-over-the-cracks exercise.) |
