Or just LPs that were put out just to get one over the record label... Seem to remember Neil Young being told by his label (Geffen?) to make a more rock n roll album. The Man's definition was obviously not the 50s rockabilly effort that Young produced. And of course Lou Reed's Metal Machine LP... a load of feedback... Anyone heard that? Is it truly shit? Any more classic stick em up to The Man albums? |

I listened to a bit of MMM on youtube last night after reading 2 really hard going interviews with Lou Reed (about his live performances of it). I liked what I heard. Whether or not I could stomach 3 sides of vinyl (& the 4th with the stuck groove so it could play forever) is another matter. There's a really bad Dylan compilation that Columbia put out after he briefly moved labels in the early/mid 70s that's full of out-takes & covers from Self Portrait. Offal. |

Not an album, but the Rolling Stones owed Decca one more single and so delivered the unmarketable 'Cocksucker Blues'...later the title of an unreleased documentary that is pretty much the blueprint for rock n roll and Spinal Tap kind of behaviour... |
