The first footie match I went to was Everton vs Liverpool back in 1985. It was quite an experience. Pissing it down for starter! Then Kenny Daglish scored within 20 seconds of kick-off. Liverpool were 3-0 up by halftime. The second half was all Everton. We got two goals back and Gary Lineker hit the post in the last few minutes too. So we lost 3-2, but it was damn close! The other thing I remember was being coaxed by a so-called "best mate" to see if I could get a ticket on the day. I spend two hours before the match getting heavily rained on, searching for a ticket and 5 minutes before kick off he brought out a spare from his pocket and would only sell it for me for 4 times the face value. By then i'd got so desperate to go I bought it. Suffice to say, I've not looked him up on Facebook, the twat. |

Spurs v Bristol City in 1978/79. Gerry Gow own goal in the 17th minute saw the home side win. I cannot remember that much about any game I have been to since! I remember turning round to my mate and asking him why Brian Moore was not commentating. Didn't realise ![]() ![]() |

1-0 City v Wolves with my dad. Not sure when but maybe 1971. I couldn't believe the megastars of my bubble gum cards were the real ones in front of me and assumed they were all actors... |

I think it was first game of the 78/79 season Forest v Spurs. Certainly the first I remember (but not v much) Quite possibly the first game for Ardiles and Villa. Pretty sure it finished 1-1. Needham scored for us, possibly Villa for them. Stood on the Bridgford End on a Co-op milk crate, whence I saw many more of the games of the great Forest team. |

Chelsea 2-1 Sheff Wed, 87/88 season. I think Kerry Dixon & Gordon Durie were on the scoresheet for the home side, and ex-Spur Tony Galvin for Wednesday. Stood in the shed and could hardly see a thing. Didn't get my first Spurs game in until 1990/91 season, but at least it was a 4-0 victory over Sheff Utd (Paul Walsh Hat-trick!!). |

Villa vs Coventry about 94. I saw the rarest of the rare, a Savo Milosevic hat-trick! Villa won 4-1 |

Fulham v Notts County. 1975. I seem to remember Fulham winning 5-1, but looking it up on the web suggests that Notts County won 1-5. Whatever. It confirmed to myself as an 8 year old that Chelsea were, indeed, the team to follow. |

Kilmarnock (my local team) v St Johnstone in the Scottish First Division, can't recall the year but late 1970s. Killie were 3-0 up at half-time, only for St Johnstone to come back to 3-2. I had a great time but two disgruntled Killie fans told me I'd picked a bad game for my first one. I was lifted over the turnstyle to get in free, had a Killie pie, Curry's cola and crisps, saw five goals and Killie WON THE GAME - fans' expectations have always been way too high in my book. |
