VEEE DEEE. (tour)
From Tokyo, Japan although not a Japanese band you understand but one Brit on drums (Thomas) and a Canadian on guitar (Clay) although they both play more than these instruments with FX and electronics being utilised. In a time when it seems everything has been done this does sound refreshing.
Having taken in their surrounding and musical contemporises in Tokyo like Boredoms and Ruins then mixed it with western hardcore punk styles Veee Deee have melted noise and drone with hardcore and ambient textures. Songs skip from being hardcore ala Lightning Bolt (even a touch of Black Flag/Fugazi even) to being ambient sound textures to straight out white noise. It's a breath taking ride. You're taken from what sounds like deer rutting with nuclear weapons one minute to the sound of a gentle ocean the next.
TIM HOLEHOUSE will be venturing out sans band in order to enrapture you with noise, loops, guitar and whatever else he decides you're worthy of. Tim says “I like tones of music from jazz to classical to metal to hardcore to indie rock... my solo music is influenced by loads of stuff but bands I recommend are Swans, Slint, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Black Flag, Black Sabbath, Red Stars Parade, Neurosis, Ink and Dagger, Low, Angel of the Light, Nick Cave, Nick Drake, Elliot Smith, Joy Division, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, and loads more besides. Also the films of Mr David Lynch have been a constant source of inspiration”. There are also some more folky elements, in his material. Elsewhere there are signs of Tim's love of indie rock. “I guess you could call it folk, alt country, ambient or indie. I guess I just write what I feel like and that's that. So don't be shocked if it gets heavier or weirder”.
