Rowland does have soul, but in terms of his voice there's a bit too much Chairman of The Board/Van Morrison stars in his eyes for him to be truly great. Alex Chilton in The Box Tops and Van Morrison probably do the best in terms of the honky soul genre. Dusty and a whole gaggle of women do it better though...
