Fireworks Night are to begin 2012 with a new single from their excellent long-player "One Winter, One Spring".
"Amongst The Disappeared", released on March 5th, is a stomping tune constructed from plucked viola, resonant piano and skittering drums, all underscoring the howled vocal of band mainstay James Lesslie. It builds up to rousing conclusion that sounds as Motown as it does alt-country.
"This is perhaps the most straightforward song I have ever written," says Lesslie, "and therefore one of which I was deeply mistrustful. Three and a half minutes, three choruses - and leave your latter-day Scott Walker albums at the door when you come in."
Fireworks Night are a band most at home on the stage, as their climactic release-party performance proved late last year. The new single is accompanied by the announcement of two new live dates, headlining for Club Fandango at The Bull & Gate on February 21st and then opening for Story Books at Hoxton Hall on March 8th.
