Very sad. Did a lot for the Tibetan causes too. Not a fan of rap but the Beasties were different and made it fun rather than macho, misogynistic or homophobic, etc.

Oh they were quite misogynistic early on. Girls dancing in cages and stuff. I wasn't a huge fan because I found them a bit bratty - but they were experimental too and I liked that. I rate them despite not being a huge fan.

He was my favourite Beastie Boy - great 'grain' in his voice.

Beasties were a great group, Ill Communication one of my favourite records through my teens.
