Early bird tickets are on sale already for a few so how did the ones you attended rate?

For me it was IndieTracks and End of the Road.

IndieTracks - Still a great little festival - only about 1500 there I'd guess, maybe slightly less. Lovely setting of the steam railway station and nice vibe. Bands were not quite as good as previous year but still good and excellent value for money tickets. Food service had improved but is still not quite as good as others around and beer was great but ran out.

EotR - Excellent. About 5000 attendees. Good vibe and some excellent bands though again the line-up not as good as previous year.. Excellent food, if pricey. Very good beer.

Briefly showed up at some Peace festival on the Ponderosa, but saw nowt. Also went to Sheffield Pride and saw Smokers Die Younger, who were good, and my daughter got her face painted.

Er, that wasn't what you meant really was it?

The only festival I made it to was the Hop Farm in Kent. The lineup on the main stage was poor with the likes of Florence and the Machine, the Fratellis, The Pidgeon Detectives, Paul Weller and Ladyhawke though Echo & The Bunnymen and That Petrol Emotion were great. The 2nd stage was dance so we kept well clear, but the 3rd stage was superb - Danananakroyd, The Chapman Family, White Denim, Let's Wrestle, Fight Like Apes were all excellent. The general vibe was relaxed and friendly and it was really nice to see no corporate sponsorship anywhere. And it only cost me a fiver forthe entire weekend Smile

Blast Off! - Good line up but terrible sound.
Offset - Terrible line up. Quite nice pancakes.

1. End of the Road – best fest though it’s right that food prices have gone up and I don’t hold with taking chairs to festivals. Nearly too much to see (lots of clashes).

2. Blast Off – for Gories and Oblivians, and also for Trev’s knowledge of a fantastic S. Indian restaurant in Nottingham. The timings were whack though and could there be something other than just Red Stripe next year?

3. IndieTracks. Good fun but a bit twee (joke…). And the Manhattans split took a bit of the shine off.

4. Sellindge Music festival. Some good things, mostly bad (the Holloways). And for a moment on Sunday security thought I was some thought of Pete Doch-a-like when they looked at my wooden duck call and thought it was a crack pipe.

Just seen that Truck is announced for 24 and 25 July 2010 so hope it doesn't clash with Indietracks again.
