| I knew Bon Iver would sneak it (I didn't vote for it by the way). |

On the evidence of the Lexington gig, it was painfully obvious (pun intended) that The Pains were a much better live band than The MLS.
And I'm still pissed that the Screaming Tea Party were put on first at the Pete & The Pirates ULU gig. I've not had another chance to see them. |

How many people voted for The Tartans? Good single but The Pains/Summer Cats split would had been my choice. _________________ indie mp3 - Ten Year Plan - Indiefy |

You did well. Just wait till SPT gets on here. He ploughed a lone furrow with his motley collection of campfire Americana and obscure Sheffield garage once again...
And gavdann, totally agree but some folk luuuuurve MLS. |

On behalf of Fortuna Pop I'd like to accept the award for best compilation. In a short speech I've prepared I'd like to say fuck you Planet Sound. Fuck you in your stupid azz. Thank you. Peace out. _________________ Cockend

Oi - my obscure Sheffield pick made the top 10 and there was only one Americana pick (and not Bon Iver, who I didn't really get on with at all).
There were 8 UK bands in my top 10 albums (9 if you count Jim Clemenets as being UK based...)
Apart from SDT only other things I voted for that made any of the lists were James Yorkston and BSP - nudging into the albums and singles respectively. In Yorkston's case only just ahead of Noah and the Fucking Whale! Numpties! |

Bola criticising an indiepop choice? He must have had a bad pint of Greene King IPA! Most people voting gave us albums and live acts, and some comps too, but there were, strangely, far fewer votes for singles. And I agree that split single is really good but split singles don't tend to do that well in polls. So the Tartans came through (and thanks should go to Trev for having introduced us to Yay! records in the first place).
And I agree that on the 17th the Pains were the best band of the evening but having seen them and the MLS several times over the years, the MLS are a seriously great live act in general. Though Darren in sunglasses in the Lexington was just one pose too many! |

Not at all JA. Wanted to see if more than 3 people and a dog voted to give that very worthy choice credibility in the polls. I prefer their Cloudberry single though!
I was writing about Yay Records back in 1897. _________________ indie mp3 - Ten Year Plan - Indiefy |

On the evidence of the shows you've seen I'd agree. But the MLS have been as good as the Pains a fair few times this year - just not the two London shows you saw - I'd have the equal top if the truth be told. |

About fucking time someone put The War On Drugs in their top ten.
Well done, pints of Pedigree in fluted glasses all round yabba yadda.
Nice to see STP top the live list. My personal picks of the year on that front were:
1. Stereolab
2. Women
3. The War On Drugs |
