Nah the Police were good at the time. First album was ace and even the next two had their moments. Sting was a God to me as a young teen - he really was the Ace Face of Quadrophenia in my book. I envied him and lusted after Debbie Harry. Both have let me down since, in their different ways (he's an ego obsessed twat, her brain's shot away through years of drug abuse).

That link just wont open. I take it Weller is slagging off Sting? I personally love Paul Weller. I love The Police - 3 guys having a laugh and knocking out the odd great tune. I used to adore the drummer. I love Sting because he pisses everybody off for some reason. It could be because he can beat Westie in the 'i'll shag her all day' stakes (apparently it's all in the meditation) or it could be because he's still a looker. It's probably because he takes himself too seriously. It's only music lad. Who knows.

Long story short Cavey, Weller was playing a Teenage Cancer Trust gig and there was a picture of Sting knocking about... Weller went up to it and spat on it saying "Fucking Twat" as he walked off.

He would know 'n' all, they did collaborate once... on Band Aid's number one SMASH hit single 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' back in 1984.

And yeah Sting is an absolute CUNT but I'll be the first to admit that part of any man's hatred of the guy is in at least small part motivated by some form of jealousy...

Sorry, gonna get the piss for saying here, but I, too, count myself a fan of The Police. I'm with BJ, I think the first album is tip top, and Synchronicity is an all-time fav, but I'll take responsibility, as it came out while I was living a jazz musician's life, playing all sorts and manner of acid jazz rubbish (though I was personally partial to playing the Miles Davis Blue Note catalogue).

Sting can clearly be a knob of staggering proportions, but I like to separate the tunes from the tools whenever possible. As for Weller and The Jam... meh. Never had any use for either, so can't be arsed to care what the old codger does now. If that's his big statement, gobbing on a picture of another goshite, he's pretty sad, isn't he?
