I'm going to pitch in on Bola's side here, which ought to worry him no end.

The original Dr Who was unwatchable shite for anyone over the age of ten. It's memory has only kept alive by lonely, obsessive, middle-aged, gay men (actually, I can put a tick beside three out of four from that list, but I'm obviously missing the vital 25%). The new version is a slight improvement, but only very, very slight. It's not shite, but it is bollocks. So there.

Got to agree. Dr Who is now trashy without being able to blame it on low budgets. Saturday’s episode was crap with a rip off plot and pantomime acting. The whole thing has become harmless light entertainment, with Tennant’s dreadful gurning, Billie Piper’s horrible inflated face, American style story arcs, and really shite supporting characters – Rose Tyler’s mum? Bring back the Brigadier! And Russell T Grant is a hack writer – he’s just taking the piss. Yes the old Doctor was pretty bad but every so often it came up with a decent story, like that one with Alexei Sayle as a DJ menaced by a Bertie Basset monster – and you’d never find Tom Baker waxing lyrical over Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
