New music webzine SoundsXP present eight of their favourite bands during one day and night at their favourite venue in London, The Brixton Windmill. It will also be the first BBQ show of the season and probably the first BBQ anywhere if it continues snowing!
There are two headliners this year, the first being influential ex-The Slits guitarist guitarist Viv Albertine, now an acclaimed solo artist having recently released debut album The Vermilion Border which featured guest appearances by Mick Jones, Tina Weymouth & Jack Bruce amongst others. The second headliners Vuvuvultures take a somewhat Gary Numan approach to punk; dark, synth-soaked and heavy but with a melodic pop backbone. They featured in numerous ‘Ones to Watch in 2013’ lists and their new single Stay Still has been grabbing all sorts of radio attention particularly with Steve Lamacq on his 6Music show.
VUVUVULTURES

“Combining catchy melodies and silky melancholic vocals with deep distortion and bass, Vuvuvultures teeter between two worlds (sometimes literally), ultimately sounding like the most glorious pop song pushed into a dark and bottomless abyss.” - Clash Magazine
"suavely destructive" - Artrocker
VIV ALBERTINE (NB - Viv will be on stage at 6.30pm)

Viv Albertine was a member of the naturally wild, inventive band The Slits. After the Slits disbanded Viv took a break from music. She is now back with a renewed passion and a collection of powerful, provocative & personal songs.
