The thing I find weird/scary is that even in war, many trained soldiers will 'shoot to miss' when in close combat due to it actually being incredibly psychologically difficult to knowingly kill another member of your own species, this is true throughout history. And these are people who've been trained by the most efficient, successful armies of all time.

Yet, these young lads, teenagers in some cases, can apparently be psychologically conditioned to perform acts of literally 'serial killer' level barbarism in a couple of months. Acts that notoriously make trainee doctors vomit and pass out when performed on cadavers, let alone living human beings.

How they manage to find young, previously 'normal' guys who have the psychological abnormalities present to perform these grisly acts - as well as the physical/anatomical knowhow - is as baffling as it is disturbing.
