Josephine Foster + Magpahi
Josephine Foster
Josephine Foster will be bringing her distinctive operatic vocals to Merchants Quay – an old industrial Mill that’s quickly establishing itself as Shipley’s cultural hub. Masterful song writing that conjures up dream landscapes and early evening sun light-phantoms. Her latest release, 'No More Lamps in the Morning' Dips into an unpredictable recording career, that has bent and warped just like her unique voice. This rare solo performance promises to be an intimate affair.
“She effortlessly dissolves barriers between herself and her fellow musicians, between music and listener, between language and expression" The Wire
Magpahi
Another unique female voice from Magpahi, AKA Alison Cooper who will be joined by Shipley’s own Aby Vulamy (Bill Wells, Aidan Moffat, Scatter) on viola and Vincent James on banjo.
The set will be accompanied with late evening light bulb spectre projections by Emma Lomax.
