So yep the fifth Odd Box Weekender is happening again next year, nothing like a bit of an early warning to mark your calendars etc.

Again it happens around the May Day bank holiday.

Friday 1st May - The Shacklewell Arms 8pm - late
Saturday 2nd May - The Shacklewell Arms - 2pm - late
Sunday 3rd May - The Shacklewell Arms - 2pm-late

We are delighted to announce the first 7 bands that will be playing the Odd Box Weekender over the first Bank Holiday weekend in May 2015 (1st, 2nd and 3rd). The whole weekend will take place at The Shacklewell Arms.

Playing for your pleasure will be The Just Joans, The Middle Ones, Slowcoaches, Sarandon, The Fish Police, Horowitz and Joey Fourr.

The Just Joans

A rare London appearance from The Just Joans.

The Just Joans are the band that puts that rogue speck of dust in your eye at that inopportune moment during your 6th beer of the night. They break your heart. They make you smile. They make you wonder why. They're special, very special.

Their album 'Buckfast Bottles in the rain' came out on WeePOP!

The Middle Ones
https://themiddleones.bandcamp.com/

The Middle Ones are mostly Anna and Grace. They're a force to be reckoned with. Their lo-fi folk songs are fierce/happy/sad. They are always spellbinding on a stage. They've released 'stuff' with Where It's At Is Where You Are, Stitch-Stitch, Discount Horse and Tuff Enuff (and maybe others?). I once took my mother to see them play with Ace Bushy Striptease in Cardiff. She preferred Ace Bushy. Them are the breaks, I guess.

Slowcoaches
http://slowcoachessux.tumblr.com/

Slowcoaches are currently Heather, Matty and Neil. They deliver beautifully bruised guitar pop that is made to fill hearts with joy. Make no mistake this is razor-sharp guitar tuneage for slacker punx everywhere.

"Slowcoaches are totally and compellingly genuine" - Drunken Werewolf

Sarandon
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sarandon/6894447258

Sarandon formed in 2003 and have slouched their way through the last decade making the occasional critically acclaimed record for Slumberland and OddBox and now and again appearing live. This will be their first show since 2011.

Think bIG fLAME, Wire, Minutemen and Yummy Fur and you're somewhere near.

The current line up is: Crayola (Safe Distance, A Witness), Alan Brown (bIG fLAME, A Witness, Great Leap Forward) and Tom Greenhalgh (Snack Family, World Sanguine Report)

The Fish Police
http://www.thefishpolice.com

Mixing electronic, hip hop and glitchy beats, The Fish Police have carved out their own place on the UK music scene. Packed with references from everything from 80s computer games to Japanese anime, their music takes the audience on a journey into The Fish Police World, evoking everything from De La Soul to Kraftwerk along the way. Their debut album The Marzipan Transformations is out now.

Horowitz
https://www.facebook.com/horowitzband

Horowitz are currently celebrating their 10th anniversary of being a band. Over the past decade they have amassed a back catalogue of top notch buzzsaw guitar pop that other bands would kill for. They have played Indietracks (2007), New York Popfest (2010) and London Popfest (2010). They released a collection of their singles and EPs in 2010 on Thee SPC and have also had releases on Cloudberry and Odd Box (to name just a few).

This is their second appearance at Odd Box Weekender having previously graced the stage during the first ever Weekender back in 2011. They are apparently busy working on their follow up to 2005’s ‘Frosty Cat Songs’.

Joey Fourr
http://www.joeyfourr.co.uk/

Joey Fourr is a POP TART. Joey is also part of the awesome tape/zine label Crumb Cabin. Joey makes dazzlingly oddball pop for the DIY generation. The slighty-a-delic lo-fi lullabies and dizzying pop songs sound like they've been beamed in from a planet that operates on a different frequency. Mesmerising.
