After a little break (due to band recording committments) Wot God Forgot have a busy period coming up for September and October.
We still have our monthly Wot God Forgot night at The Retro Bar, Sackville Street, Manchester - the first Wednesday in the month - but in addition the venue has agreed to let us have another night in the middle of month.
In addition we have some 'specials' coming up which include Silver Apples, an ITC Official ringe event and a gig for our friends from Leeds - I Concur - which will be at The Dry Bar.
Anyway the line for the 3/09/08 is as follows:-
Warm Widow
A satisfying chunk of angry hi-frequency distortion is fired straight from the camp of members of Manc Music legends Jackie O, Breaking Colts and Tsuji Giri. Don’t expect it to sound too much like components of the modern local alt.rock scene though. This slices through your brain like a speeded up version of (a first album) Banshees fired through a bazooka most probably being aimed by Thurston Moore. Acidic, grappling incendiary, pioneering leftfield rock. It’s a pretty uncompromising and unique cocktail of searing, angry, blazing post-punk fuelled by angular distortion pedal fireworks.

Sacred
Jack Doyle and Paul Hanley have already, even at such youthful stages in their life, left a trail of good bands behind them. There was their time in the heavily airplayed and nearly signed, The Forest and then their edgy rock project Pooler. This time they swing in a slightly harder direction with Sacred, with the addition of Daniel Land on bass guitar. “Second Time” is a swamp of stoner rock, grinding and churning along like Alice In Chains swinging it out with Deftones. It’s all taken down to a lo-fi level and the big fat guitars act like a comforting sonic assault via the permanently weighty tones. “In The Mix” is an epic struggle of battling guitars, a landslide of drums and Sabbath influenced melodies played in the lowest octave possible. - Manchester Music
