Hi everyone,
Just posting to invite you to a gig and club night at the Islington Bar Academy this Saturday, 22 March.
Pocketbooks, Love Ends Disaster and The Home Wreckers Club are playing as part of this week’s Feeling Gloomy club night, which prides itself on playing happy tunes with sad lyrics. Anything from Pulp and The Pixies to McFly and Kate Bush! Apparently it’s a messy, chaotic and beautiful night all round.
When: Saturday 22 March: 8.30pm doors
Where: Feeling Gloomy at Islington Bar Academy, 16 Parkfield Street, London N1
(near Angel tube and next to Vue cinema)
Tickets: or £6 on the door.
The line-up is:
Pocketbooks
A pop group from London – one moment creating heartstopping melodies and harmonies, and the next casting a spell of delicacy and intimacy. There's a sprinkling of dazzling 60s soul alongside the stylish charm of Camera Obscura, Saint Etienne, Belle and Sebastian and The Pipettes. This is also the unofficial launch party for their new EP, Waking Up.
The Home Wreckers Club
Hotly-tipped London four-piece bringing three-minute catchy garagepop to get everyone dancing. Expect skinny ties and catchy pop tunes!
Love Ends Disaster
Angular punk-pop and jangly ska tunes from this Nottingham five-piece, drawing comparisons with Talking Heads, British Sea Power, and The Only Ones. Known especially for their captivating live shows.
Hopefully see some of you there!
