A Hawk And A Hacksaw produce an appealing and intelligent blend of folk music, one part taken from the Southern states of the US, where they were born, and the other part taken from Eastern Europe where they sometimes live.
Multi instrumentalist Jeremy Barnes (formerly with Neutral Milk Hotel) and Heather Trost have a new album out titled Delivrance (curiously named after a statute in Finchley) in which they experiment with the sounds of Eastern Europe, Greek melodies and Mexican brass mariachi bands. Its an experiment that pays off in bucketloads of cheerful, exuberance and beautifully executed tunes and the release has been universally well received by the music press.
Their shows are virtuoso performances and are not to be missed and even the Guardian Newspaper urges your attendance.
See them in Manchester at the Ruby Lounge 22/06/09.
