Yesterday at my caring, sharing, behaviours aware Civil Service Department where I nominally work we were told via the internal news service that it was National Transgender Day and that we should all spare time to contemplate the suffering received by transgender, transexual and intersex staff through the ages. Now I'm no Mike Newell-esq Daily Express reading traditionalist harking back to the days of opening doors for ladies and sending 'coloureds' back but why are we suddenly expected to think about these three permutations? I didn't even know what they all were and had to have a quick wiki to find out. Seems some of them have willies, some have fannies and some are spoilt for choice. But where do we draw the line? Today will I be expected to contemplate the suffering caused to Essex blondes? Or green eyed people called Dave? Sorry but I'll keep quiet for 11/11, 9/11 and 7/7 to 'contemplate' but if you're going to get picky and expect me to shut up for every bizarre variation in humankind I shall SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS.

Yeah the world has gone mad. How upsetting for transgender staff anyhoo. I'm sure that they don't want to be singled out. This is the problem. There are loads of arseholes out there fighting causes (they're not normally affected by the cause themselves) for others who don't want them to fight them at all.

Arsehole: Can we spare a thought for the transgenders.
Transgenders: Can we spare a thought for the arseholes.

It's insulting on so many levels. Sparing a thought suggests that there is something wrong with it. And why a bloody National transgender day? They'll make national days out of anything now.
