Sorry if everyone knows this already, but I found out yesterday that 1 and 0.999r are the same number. Not just "very close", but the same. Bloody hell! |

Well that's it! *throws arms in the air* The last brain cell has just upped and left. I can't handle these kind of crazy things. It can't be the same number because it's got three 9's in it and a 0 (head falls off) Bloody hell indeed. |

There are lots of proofs for this which can be found . is also good. The proof I found easiest to understand goes like this: 1 = 3x1/3 (ie, three times one third) 1/3 = 0.333r 3x0.333r=0.999r therefore 0.999r=1. |
