I absolutely love "Stuart: a life backwards" by Alexander Masters...a biography of a homeless man told in reverse. Moving stuff. Dangerous Parking by Stuart Brown is brilliant as well. Oh, and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - stunning. |

It's a very silly story, Cavey and certainly not true. Look, the one and only Adam Ant was balding rapidly throughout his brief flirtation with mega-stardom and hardly anyone noticed that. I met him in 1990 (piccy taken with him and everything, my mum was so chuffed ![]() I bought his autobiog too but, as always seems to be the case these days, I haven't started it yet. |

don't read the pamela stevenson book unless you like self-serving cash-in trash based on the life of a once great now terminally unfunny bitter old sell out. jimmy carr's an annoying twat but his summation of billy suits him just fine in my eyes. "you can take the man out of the dockyards, but you can't stop him going on about it. he only worked there for 6 months and that was 30 years ago". bear* in mind i'm scottish and was brought up to think of billy as some sort of distant funny uncle. can't stand the sour-faced humourless faker these days. and his wife's vastly less attractive. avoid! on a lighter note, i'm curently barely* able to but down "the bear comes home" by rafi zabor. it's about an alto-sax virtuoso trying to evolve a personal style out of coltraine and rollins. he's also walking talking, blake and shakespeare quoting bear. highly recomended. maybe skip the sex scenes though. i now now rather more than i wanted to about the heterotopic baculum's involvement in inter species "love". seriously. yuk. the bits about music are shit hot though. *sorry. p.s. had to google it. turns out you can buy 'em to stir your coffee. nice. |
