Marc Teamaker tours England with his new band, Bombay Soul Shop.
23 September, 2006 – Soulful, New York-based singer/songwriter Marc Teamaker will be touring England with his fun new band, Bombay Soul Shop, through October. Confirmed cities include London, Maidstone, York, Hartlepool, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, and Bristol, with more dates and venues to be confirmed (details below).
Connecticut Magazine called Marc Teamaker “the genetically engineered product of a mad scientist who loves all kinds of pop. [He] looks like a Beatle and sings like Steve Winwood, and his CDs feature wonderfully eclectic tunes, from jazzy ballads to rockers like ‘Slipping Away’” (Peter Gerstenzang, Connecticut Magazine, August 2006).
Grounded in the tradition of classic British and California rock, Marc Teamaker is a wanderer ever exploring the varied landscapes of soul, jazz, and even bossa nova. His sophistry is tempered by the raw energy of Bombay Soul Shop, comprising J. Thomas Nixon’s solid bass grooves and the explosive bar-crossing drumming of long-time Teamaker collaborator Ray Hermann.
English audiences are no strangers to Marc Teamaker, whose roots in the UK run deep. They began to grow with his love and respect for classic British rock, spread with his tours here both solo and with his side project The Badge, and are now taking a hold as Cringe Music Publishing brings his sophisticated but edgy and modern take on rock ‘n’ roll to the attention of interested record companies in the UK.
Even though this is not Teamaker’s first visit to the UK, this is the first time audiences will get the Marc Teamaker and Bombay Soul Shop experience, whose electric vibe is fed offstage through the carefully-nurtured bonds the trio have forged, and let loose onstage with powerful synergy.
