But "Leave Before The Lights Come On" is the first song by them that I like when sober. I think it's a thing with me that I start liking bands when other people go off them. I really got (back) into Oasis circa "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants" and my current favourite Rolling Stones LP is "Emotional Rescue" |

Scritti Politti - I'd recommend White Bread and Black Beer because it has variety and quality, and his voice is perhaps better now that it was 20 years ago. Then you could try Songs To Remember), Cupid and Psyche 85 (which I found to be super-intelligent but a bit too processed) and Early (a collection of all his squat music and currently an excellent £6 in Fopp). Hot Chip - that album is very good. Some of the songs are immediate (Over and Over) but play it a few times and you realise that there's very little filler. Definitely worth a punt. |
