Leaving aside whether you like him or not, he ought to go now for his own sake. He's all but missed the chance to go out on top - largely because he's been sticking to doing what he thinks is right (again whether you agree with him or not) while the country is moving on. Even if you believe he was the right person at the right time for the country, he's not now and the longer he hangs on the more he'll undermine any legacy he does want to leave. If he goes quickly the Govt can at least try to move and build on what he's done and credit him for that. But political necessity now means that his colleagues are having to chip away at him and his policies to stay popular - the longer he stays the less will be left...

I have to agree with VV - Brown isn't going to be any better than Bliar (though he probably won't fork out for a family-decorated mug for press conferences), so personally I couldn't give a shit whether he resigns now or not.
However I reckon his reluctance to step down speaks volumes for his disdain (and lack of trust) for his own party. Any sane person can see the longer he stays the greater the damage done so either he doesn't believe Brown is strong enough to continue his "modernisation" or he's a mega-lo-maniac, war-mongering prick who just can't let go. Either way he's a cunt.

I clicked 'don't care' because I honestly don't. There is nobody to replace Blair and I don't hate him enough to want him to go. And we're just very small dots on a huge political landscape. Nobody gives a shit what Joe public thinks.
