Apparently, Pearce said that before he'd seen the video playback. After he'd witnessed the assault he hauled him into his office "for a talking to" and fined him 2 weeks wages and said to the press that "Thatchers actions were indefensible".

Good on Pearcey I say - an honest answer from a premiership manager instead of the usual "I didn't see the incident" bullshit you hear from other managers.
