Presumably we all read reviews occasionally so which phrases are guaranteed to make you know for certain you'll hate a record? For me: Post-rock and punk funk. |

Well... post-punk I suppose. It's not the music per se, just the over-seriousness that went with it all... bands like Gang of Four make me want to throw up and kill schoolchildren they're that bad. I mean it's a generalisation but I just cannot stand bands taking themselves too seriously and that genre kind of typifies it for me. I will always hate overly-academic goons like Talking Heads way more than simpler stuff... hey, at least its honest. |

A lot of these phrases are made up though right? I don't get half of them (or all of them) so they mean nothing to me. I made up the phrase Dirty disco* though and reviewers ride that like a whore now. *Cavey trademark |
