Re: recommendations Don’t pay attention to all today’s nonsense in the obituaries about Syd’s “difficult” solo stuff… IMHO, the two solo albums “Madcap..” and “Barrett” are a lot more accessible that “Piper at the gates of Dawn..” In fact, I reckon “Piper” sounds seriously dated now, while the solo stuff could easily be a less-wanky Doherty or slightly far-out Graham Coxon … Off the top of my head track down “Terrapin”, “Baby Lemonade” and “Gigolo Aunt” as stand out tracks. Also, the first track on rarities album “Opel” is probably best thing he did.. (can’t remember its name now) Got really into Syd Barrett about 10 years ago (during the obligatory student acid phase) |
