Ring is as good as than the Japanese original but Ringu does that final scene more successfully. The Grudge is a competent remake, and Dark Water is an excellent one. George Sluizer's The Vanishing with Jeff Bridges is as good his own original Spoorloos. Brett Ratner's Red Dragon is not a great film but makes some interesting improvements on Manhunter. Cronenberg's The Fly is also better. |
