Welcome Levi, Not sure why we have to ignore British teams, after all Liverpool (late 70s & early 80s), Forest (more briefly, but ditto), Rags (1999?)... would all be contenders. However, maybe the AC Milan one. |

Very European based. Only one south American team mentioned. They generally win the World Club Championships. I go for Bayern Munich or AC Milan. |

The Ajax team of the early 70s gets my vote .. Surely no other team actually revolutionised the fundamentals of the game in such the way (most teams of the era featured a centre half who couldn’t even pass the ball alone let alone fill in as a striker) I would recommend this book for anyone interested: Includes some great chapters that try to link the Cruyff turn to the De Stijl art movement of the 1920s etc. The total football thing is also a great lesson in people becoming undone by their own arrogance .. Can there be a greater victim of hubris than the Dutch side in the 1974 final?? .. take the piss out of the Germans at your peril |
