If they are going for another foreign coach which I have no problems with then surely Wenger should have been approached? Big Phil is fine by me but has no knowledge of the English game unlike Wenger. |

I think most would agree with that but I'm pretty sure Wenger made it clear he was not interested very very early on in the search. As did The Special One and Alan Ball. |

Please note the wording of the Scum's scoop.. He's only been "offered" the job, which by no means suggests that he'll take it, especially as the FA is apparently keen to get someone on the cheap (well, cheaper than Ericsson).. I’ve not got a problem with foreigner managers per se, but this guy can scarcely speak English; conversations between him and Becks will be like something from dumb and dumber.. Martin O’Neil gets my vote |

Trouble with Scolari is his track record. Sure, he won the World Cup with Brazil, but (a bit like O'Neal at Celtic), I get the feeling I could've managed that squad to victory, especially considering the less than tough oppo (England took them close, but you know your squad's a bit weak when Darius Vassel is your supposed match-winning substitution). Then he took Portugal to the Euro Cup final but - 1) they were the home nation, 2) they struggled to beat us, and we were absolutely woeful that night, and 3) they lost to a bunch of Greeks who rose from subs benches around the world to grab glory. When you add in the language problem, I'm not convinced. |
