Don't knock my relatives, Bovey. Lizzy, where has this cretin question sprung from?

it sprung from my realisation that my music taste are obviously completely lacking. I have read and re-read much of what is being written on this Board and though "WTF are they talking about, who are all these bands with weird names!"

I am obviously just too goddamn mainstream

Nah, I've had all that too Lizzy. They know nothing really. They just do searches for the most obscure band names, research them and then pretend they own their whole collection. :D Unfortunately this is not true, they really are musical knowitsoandsos. I've got one foot in mainstream and one foot in knowitsoandsos stream - my feet are soaking. Talking of mainstream, I caught George Michael being interviewed by Parky (couldn't go out so missed your gig Michael - apologies) It was great to see Georgy. He's doing a European tour and I wish him all the best. His voice is superb and Father figure and Jesus to a child are works of art. See Lizzy, watch the shite i'll get now for championing George...

How much cosmetic surgery has old George had? For a fat bloke he's a fair mover, but he always sings like he's put deep heat on his haemorrhoids by mistake. I hoped he'd retired - what the world doesn't need is another portly middle aged tone-deaf singer making more "mature" music.

Is that damning enough for you?

Word of advice, Lizzy: no matter how bad things may seem, they're never so grim that you should seek advice from an indie-rock forum.

Why not? We have excellent counsellors in the world of indie music – any problem just ask: what would the guitarist from Hope of the States do?

just go to the soundsxp gig and meet this bunch of halfwits and feel much better about yourself. personally i think that most of these bands dont really exist
did you know they actually have a closed private 'writers' forum where, i'm reliably informed by my mole, they discuss which bands to pretend to like this week?
personally of course i'm charming, well informed, have excellent taste and i'm extremely good looking. unfortunately i wont be at the gig so none of that can be disproved or otherwise

As you've never turned up to a SXP gig you'll have no idea whether these bands exist or whether you are a halfwit (I can guess on this front...)
