wOrld dOmInAtIOn lEAgUE... ** April 10th @ Nambucca ** THE LAUREL COLLECTIVE iDOU LEVELLOAD + DJ prole-art-threat advance tickets: THE LAUREL COLLECTIVE are six nice, affable young bachelors and two sick, ultraviolent delinquents who play a simmering stew of musical influences. They started with a bunch of sampled cut ups and turned them into a live set with eight musicians. Like an insane mash-up of Serge Gainsbourg, Jim O'Rourke and The Cars. iDOU is the natural progression of Abdoujaparov, the band formed in 1998 by former Carter USM guitarist Les (Fruitbat) Carter. Abdou have played extensively in the UK and Australia, also releasing 2 albums and 6 EPs - the latest one, 'Ultra Cool' came out early 2005. iDou is Les, a guitarist and an iPod Shuffle... LEVELLOAD A boy and a girl collide one night under Tokyo's neon sky. They stay up for hours fighting it out over Blondie and The Ramones. Boy plays the guitar, so girl dusts off her bass and after a few riffs, suddenly, it all just makes perfect sense. A few weeks, a bunch of cool, tough-as-fuck songs and one long plane journey later, and they're ready to take on London. Listen out for the John Peel-approved stormer 'Palookaville'.
